Position:
Assistant Professor, Mathematics
General
Description: A
full-time member to teach Mathematics courses, to meet the needs of a
growing population of students. The Assistant Professor will also be
responsible for departmental and college wide activities in keeping with
the mission and vision of Baltimore City Community College.
Qualifications:
- Master's or
PhD degree in Mathematics, Statistics or Mathematics Education
required.
- Minimum of
two years teaching experience, preferably at the community college
level required.
- Excellent
oral and written communication skills in the English language
required.
- Experience
in developmental education required.
- Experience
in curriculum development preferred.
- Experience
in using technology in teaching, including online teaching,
preferred
- Demonstrated
English Language Proficiency to communicate orally and in writing
with persons of various backgrounds.
- Knowledge
and/or experience in writing and designing student learning outcomes
and assessments.
Responsibilities:
- Teach 15
hours per semester of development and college level credit
mathematics courses.
- Experience
at teaching Calculus and Intermediate Algebra required.
- Faculty
member also have professional responsibilities which may include
orientation and registration of students, participation in College
committees, keeping regular posted office hours (which are scheduled
at times convenient for students), and participation in traditional
functions which have academic significance.
- Provides
organized delivery of instruction.
- Assist in
curriculum development.
- Assist in
selection and mentoring of adjunct faculty.
- Engage in
Departmental assessment and evaluation of courses and programs.
- Participate
actively in development of Departmental policies and procedures.
- Advice and
mentor students.
- Participate
in College Committees.
- Participate
in Student recruitment, evaluation and advisement.
- Be
courteous and approachable to students.
- Shows
enthusiasm for the subject matter.
- Grades and
returns student assignments and tests in a reasonable period of
time.
- is
effective as a teacher. prepares complete course outlines and
syllabi.
- continually
revises and updates course content and materials of instruction.
- Coordinates
course contents and methods with other teachers in the
program/discipline.
- Meets and
assists students during office hours or by appointment or at other
reasonable times.
- Initiates
and carries through with improvements to course contents and
methods.

Salary:
The salary range for this full-time PIN position is $40,365 -
$47,548, commensurate with experience.
