Position:
Assistant Professor, Psychology
General
Description:
Under the general direction
of the Department Chair for Public Services, Education and Social
Sciences, the Assistant Professor, Psychology will be responsible for
the instruction of students in the discipline of Psychology as well as
participating in the ongoing academic advisement of discipline majors.
The incumbent will ensure compliance with College policies and
procedures specifically related to programs in Psychology Arts & Science
Transfer.
Qualifications:
-
Master's degree
in Psychology required, Ph.D. preferred.

Additional 15
graduate hours in Sociology or anthropology preferred.

Minimum of 3
years teaching experience; community college teaching experience
preferred.

Demonstrated and
documented excellence in teaching and learning.
-
Experience
working in a multi-cultural community college setting.

Knowledge of and
adherence to professional protocol.
-
Excellent and
effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
-
Knowledge and
experience in writing and designing Student Learning Outcomes and
Assessment.
Responsibilities:
-
Teach a minimum of 30 credit
hours per academic year.

Provide academic advising to
students.
-
Assist in academic
registration of students in discipline area as assigned.

Participate in the
evaluation of courses/curricula.
-
Participate in departmental
and College-wide recruitment and retention efforts.
-
Assist in textbook selection
and grant preparation as required.
-
Assist the Arts & Sciences
department in orienting part-time faculty.
-
Serve on departmental and
College-wide committees and attend all required meetings.
-
Maintain and update
procedures and policies in relation to changes in federal regulations
and requirements in conjunction with program faculty.

Accept special assignments
which may be required to maintain the quality and growth of the
department.

Participate in writing
recommendations for students.

Supervise adjunct faculty
when necessary.
This
