Position:
Coordinator of Disability Support Services
General
Description:
The
Coordinator of Disability Support Services
Center is responsible for
the interpretation and implementation of State and Federal laws that
relate to the support of students with disabilities so that they may
have fair access to an education.
Qualifications:
-
Doctorate degree
in Psychology required.
-
Licensed
Psychologist.
-
Three years
related experience.
Responsibilities:
-
Provide administrative support and
supervision of all activities within the Disability Support Services
Center.
-
Establish
best practices in the
Disability
Support Services Center for the College.
-
Establish program outcome
assessments for the Center.
-
Review requests for
reasonable accommodations to include testing/exams for students with
disabilities, advocacy, adapted materials, and career advising;
responsible for appropriate scheduling to facilitate such
accommodations.

Review and
modify policies to ensure compliance with federal regulations and
provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) and
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

Analyze diagnostics of
learning disabilities and interpret the results.
-
Maintain records and reports
required by the College, state, and federal agencies on programs,
policies, and trends; make recommendations for programs in accordance
with findings.

Responsible for maintaining
the confidentiality of student records as required by the College's
policy and regulations by law.

Provide persons with
disabilities personal devices or assistance for personal use.
-
Provide consultative
assistance to the campus community on issues and policies related to
disabilities.

Coordinate accessibility
issues in classrooms, labs, etc. for students and employees.
-
Supervise staff counselor
and diagnostician for students with disabilities.
-
Hire, schedule, and
supervise professional American Sign Language Interpreters.

Prepare and manage the
department's budget as the fiscal agent for the department.

Educate faculty and staff on
meeting the needs of disabled students and interprets regulations
developing related policies and procedures.

Promote campus awareness.
-
Evaluate assistive equipment
and execute student accommodation needs.

Serve as the compliance
officer for ADA, section 504 student complaint and campus
accommodations.

As a requirement of this position, Baltimore City Community College will
expect the incumbent to provide and be evaluated on the effective
delivery of services through evening and weekend coverage, provide
coverage at off-campus sites as deemed necessary, cross-train in related
functions to support operational efficiency, and provide appropriate
instruction and/or instructional support in a manner that best enhances
student learning and success.
