Position:
Dean for the Urban Education Academy
General
Description:
Reporting to the Vice President, of Academic Affairs, the Dean for the
Urban Education Academy (UEA) provides leadership for UEA initiatives
such as the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE);
conducting and coordinating faculty/teacher professional development,
writing grants to support new and innovative programs and services, and
increasing the number of students going into teaching. Other initiatives
include improving teacher/faculty effectiveness, supervising faculty,
staff and consultants, serving as a liaison between internal and
external partners, and fostering education and business linkages in
developing teacher education programs. The Dean, UEA oversees the
College's Teacher Education and Certification programs, designs,
develops and implements enrichment programs for teachers, faculty, and
students, establishes learning goals for all programs and services, and
ensures that outcomes are documented and assessed.
Qualifications:
Required
-
Master's
degree in Educational Administration or related field.

10 years combined experience
directing secondary and postsecondary education programs including
budgeting and managing state or federal grant projects.

Secondary school teaching,
counseling, and administrative experience.

Knowledge of educational
theories and practices specifically as they relate to urban educational
environments.
Preferred
-
Doctorate degree in
Educational Administration or related field.

Experience developing,
conducting and/or managing professional development.
Responsibilities:
- Provide
leadership and oversight for future teacher programs, teacher education
and certification programs, and faculty/teacher professional
development.

Develop teacher education
curriculum incorporating learning outcomes and assessment. Conduct
periodic reviews.

Collaborate with Chairs,
Deans, and other College-wide personnel to plan and develop a UEA
Strategic Plan that addresses student success goals and programmatic
needs.

Work closely and communicate
with various internal and external publics including faculty, secondary
school teachers, counselors, principals, and District personnel.

Write grants to support the
development of new and innovative programs; serve as principal
investigator (PI) for selected
grants; manage multiple budgets; comply with local, state, federal and
laws, regulations, statutes, etc.

Supervise teachers/faculty,
staff and develop, coordinate and conduct research-based professional
development activities for them via small group sessions, seminars,
webinars, workshops, etc.

Collect, analyze, synthesize
and report data and pertinent information to appropriate individuals,
groups, agencies, and organizations. Review and evaluate UEA programs
and services to ensure efficient and effective operations.

Promote UEA programs and
services, write articles, conduct presentations and demonstrations as
needed; assist with fundraising events and recruitment activities.
This

Salary:
The salary for this full-time position is $80,810.
