Position: Payroll Clerk (Contractual)

 

General Description:  The Payroll Clerk utilizes the Part-time Employee Automatic Contractual Employment (PEACE) System to prepare and track adjunct faculty and contractual staff contracts ensuring compliance with all federal, state and College policies and procedures. The Payroll Clerk communicates with all departments in the College in maintaining the PEACE system in support of the preparation of employee contracts and the payroll process in timely payment of those contracts on a continuing basis. The Payroll Clerk will enter contracts with speed and accuracy into both the PEACE and FMIS systems in order to pay staff , faculty, and work study students in a timely manner.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education:   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate required. Associates Degree preferred.
  • Technical Skills:  Proven ability to pay close attention to detail. Proficient computer skills and experience with Windows based applications. Good interpersonal and communication skills that will afford good customer service to College-wide constituents.
  • Experience: At least five years of relevant experience. Experience working in a multi-cultural community college setting. Experience in higher education preferred. Ability to work under pressure to meet required deadlines. Strong organizational and customer service skills. Knowledge of State of Maryland Payroll and BCCC personnel functions. Willingness to serve as an essential employee to assist in Payroll Operations during inclement weather and other college emergencies. Available to work overtime as needed to meet all payroll timelines. Due to the nature of this position the successful candidate will be required to undergo a criminal background check with the Maryland Criminal Justice Information System.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Produce and verify contractual agreements, reconciliation reports, and other forms required to complete contract processing.
  • Reconcile, track, and update contractual records and other State forms to ensure timely and accurate payment for contractual employees.
  • Generate part-time employment contracts and other related duties relating to contractual employees.
  • Responsible for forwarding and distributing contracts and copies of contracts and other documents to appropriate departments in a timely manner to aid in processing timesheets.
  • Verify and review contract data , budgets, reconciliation reports, State of Maryland documents relating to contractual employees and other forms.
  • Assist Payroll operations with data input, verification of timesheets, and verification of contract details relating to contractual timesheets.
  • Assist in delivering vital expert customer service to College departments to aid in training and implementing the automated contractual system.
  • Interview and monitor work study students.
  • Verify critical information and sign off on 311 forms.
  • Assist in creating memorandums, letters and forms relating to processing documents for contractual employees and other forms.
  • Assist with audits, statutory closeout, and special projects as needed.
  • Cross-train with various departments.

Salary:  The salary for this Full-Time contract position is $15.00 per hour.
