Position:  Police Supervisor

 

 

General DescriptionThe Police Supervisor is the supervisory level of law enforcement work at a State facility. Employees in this classification supervise Police Officers and other security personnel and receive general supervision from the Police Chief and/or Deputy Chief. Employees may be subjected to call in duty during emergencies and staffing shortages and may work rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends. Employees may be required to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions. Police Supervisors functions as the first line supervisor of Police Officers. The incumbent conducts investigations of incidents reported on the shift and assists the Police Chief and/or Deputy Chief in the management and maintenance of the department's inventory of evidence. The Police Supervisor interacts with the College community and establishes rapport with the public, provides the College community with safety information as needed, and conducts community related public safety programs. The Police Supervisor collaborates with local and state law enforcement agencies when needed and ensures the accurate preparation and completion of a variety or reports and forms to support public safety at the College. This position carries the rank of Lieutenant. 

 

 

Qualifications:

  • High School or equivalent education.
  • Three years minimum experience in Law Enforcement.
  • Must have a certification from the Maryland Police and Corrections Training Commission as a result of having completed an authorized Maryland Police Department's Training Academy; which is certified by the MPCTC.
  • Currently employed at an authorized Maryland Police Department or have been out for no more than three years.
  • Possess a valid Maryland Drivers License.
  • Successfully complete a background investigation.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Full performance level of law enforcement work.
  • Supervises Police Officers and other security personnel.
  • Recommends levels of training and/or disciplinary action to the Chief when necessary.
  • Accurately documents level of performance of personnel assigned.
  • Functions as first line supervisor.
  • Reviews and forwards to command daily work sheets, payroll sheets, and leave request.
  • Directs traffic and assists with traffic and crowd control.
  • Develops and maintains procedures to govern traffic and parking on BCCC campuses.

Salary:  The salary for this full-time PIN position is $46,576.
