Persistent Links

Turabian citations require a stable or persistent link for information found online through databases. For most databases, you cannot use the link in your browsers address bar. Links in the address bar contain temporary information that will expire and cannot be used at a later time.

Below is a list of database providers and how to get the persistent links from their databases:
  • EBSCO Databases - when viewing an article, click the Permalink button to get the Stable URL.
  • Gale Databases - Click Bookmark to view the Stable URL.
  • ProQuest Databases - look for Document URL  at the bottom of the page.
Instructors: for many of our databases, the stable URLs your students give you may be correct, but will only work when using them on a BCCC computer.
