Celebrate Black History Month with
1976, the month of February has been designated as Black History Month.
This annual celebration recognizes black American achievements, as well
as the central role of African Americans in U.S. History. It’s important
we take time to immerse ourselves in the past and honor and remember the

Quality Child Care Available
The Clarence W. Blount Child Development Center
has received the Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) grant,
which allows for an expansion of services. The College will now be able to
offer infant-toddler school and evening school. The CCAMPIS grant is
designed to provide financial assistance to those who have received the
Pell grant eligible or Pell grant recipient families who are unable to
afford the full cost of quality child care.
Eligible families can apply for the CCAMPIS
scholarship beginning in 2014. To receive assistance through this program,
- Be a Pell-eligible
- Be enrolled for at least
- Have a cumulative GPA of
2.5 (must remain in good academic standing for each semester in which
the child care grant is awarded)
- Attend workshop trainings
and participate in survey and evaluation activities
Only one childcare grant will be awarded per
family. Students receiving child care subsidy from the State of Maryland
are not eligible for participation in the grant program.

Be cautious when checking your College email –
spammers have the capability to title
spam emails to look as if they come from BCCC. How can you tell if you have
a spam email in your inbox? Look at the address
– if it has a title relevant to the College but isn’t sent from a BCCC email account, it’s probably

Assessment Office Today
The Assessment Office is offering various
trainings for faculty and staff interested in learning more about the
Practical Guide, Assessment Booklet and Assessment Packet. Attendees will
learn about behaviorally-based
learning objectives, assessment measures, designing effective delivery
methods and course assignments, as well as direct and indirect assessments.
The goal of the training sessions is to further assist faculty members in
improving curriculum and teaching practices.

interested faculty register for these training sessions in small groups.

Reinstituted College-Wide Assessment
The College-Wide Assessment Committee
(CWAC), reinstituted by
Dr. Anderson, is fully operational and
has developed the following mission statement:
Representing the College’s diverse community of stakeholders, the
College-Wide Assessment Council (CWAC) has as its mission to review and
make recommendations for the outcomes assessment practices utilized by all
College divisions. Specifically, CWAC examines how the divisions
within the College determine goals and measures of their attainment, and
how they collect and analyze data to make decisions. CWAC plans to
establish a comprehensive annual review process documenting objectives,
outcomes, and resulting actions taken for improvement. CWAC
Co-Chairs, Dr. Sheila White-Daniels and
Dr. Carole Quine, invite members of
the College community to participate in a CWAC subcommittee.
