Students, Staff Rock the House at Reaffirmation Rally
was “all hands on deck” and a healthy amount of clapping and feet stomping
yesterday in the P.E. Center, as students and staff came together to make a
little noise in anticipation of next week’s visit of the accreditation team
from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
Members of the Frederick Douglass
High School Marching Band put the spirit in the air as faculty, staff,
student club representatives and members of the student government kicked
off the College’s decennial reaccreditation process, which begins with an
exhaustive Self-Study of all College operations and concludes with next
week’s visit and review. Dr. Carolyn Anderson, who waved pom-poms with the
students atop the east bleachers, reaffirmed everyone’s stake in, and
ability to contribute to, the process.
ACBSP Concludes Visit
marked the conclusion of the ACBSP site team’s campus visit. The site team
had been on campus since Sunday, March 16, to validate information
submitted in the Business and Technology Self-Study document, which can be
accessed here. Thanks to everyone from
the Business and Technology programs for their hard work!

Year End Deadlines
preparation for the end of the fiscal year, please note and adhere to the
Cutoff date for FY14 requisition submission for Procurement over $25,000
Report the status of all open purchase orders to Accounts Payable. You must
report whether or not PO’s should remain open or be closed. The default
will be to close them at year end if no written notification has been made

Final request for any requisitions using FY14 funding, providing all backup

BCCC announces a new online environmental science
course for non-science majors! ES110 - a 3-credit course offered during
Accelerated II - begins Monday, March 24. The last day of classes is May
25. Students must have access to a computer connected to the Internet, must
be computer literate, and, if taking an online course for the first time,

ES110 involves the study of the fundamental physical, biological and
ecological principles of environmental science. The course will review
cause-and-effect relationships underlying environmental issues. Topics
focus on understanding how the world works at the level of the natural
environment, how the natural environment regenerates natural resources and
how this generative capacity is being affected by human activities. For

The Garífuna Hospital in Honduras
Learn about the story behind the first
free and holistic health care system on Honduras’ Caribbean coast Friday,
March 28 during the Revolutionary Medicine: Story of the Garífuna
Hospital presentation at 7:15 in the Gaare Auditorium. The hospital –
the first to be established in Afro-Indigenous Garífuna communities, stands
as an alternative to the increasingly privatized national health system.
Built, administered and defended by the communities it serves, the hospital
has become a symbol of Garífuna self-determination. Learn more about the
hospital and its story and hear how you can make a difference.
The event will be preceded by a drumming
workshop with the Lumalali Garífuna drummers from 6 to 6 p.n. in the Mini
Conference Center. Both events are free and open to the public.

Life Sciences Building Update: Fourth Floor Now Open
fourth floor labs of the Life Sciences Building are now open. All students
should go to the fourth floor for their scheduled labs. Biology 102 lab
students should go to Room 409.
