VP Mason Announces Renewed Adult Ed Funding
Mason, Vice President for Business and Continuing Education, was just
informed by the Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (DLLR) that
his division’s application for FY 2015 funding of BCED Adult Education
programs has been accepted. The amount of the grant is $833,699 and
includes funding for four new sites. The grant began July 1.
Annual Pay Increments in Effect as of July 1!
pay increments went into effect July 1, 2014 for eligible employees. The
increments are based on your start
date. For all employees hired July 1-Dec. 31 of any year, the pay
increment begins July 1. For those hired Jan. 1-June 30, the increment
begins Jan. 1, 2015. Regular biweekly employees can expect paychecks
dated July 16th to have a partial increment value (the new
rate effective from July 1-8, 2014). Paychecks dated July 30th
and beyond will have the full increment.

Low-Cost Quality Child Care Available
Clarence W. Blount Child Development Center is now enrolling for summer
CCAMPIS (Child Care Access Means Parents in School) scholarships. The
College offers an infant-toddler and pre-school room program (6 months-5
years) and an evening aftercare program starting in the fall (ages 5-12).

unable to afford the full cost of quality child care. Students receiving a
child care subsidy from the State of Maryland are not eligible for
participation in the grant program, though sliding scale fees are

Contract Processing, HR Working to Improve Life
for Contractual Employees
Contract Processing and HR Offices are working together to improve the
hiring and payment process for contract employees. The goal is to ensure
fair employment practices and consistency in the recruitment
and selection of BCCC contractual and temporary agency employees. When
submitting your contract requests to Tonya Anderson, please make sure of

appropriate documentation was submitted during FY2014, please advise HR
when submitting the renewal contract request.

positions for requests to hire employees through temporary agencies. A
