Pre-GED® for ESL
GED® classes are designed for adults 16 years of age or older who have not earned their high school diplomas and who are not currently enrolled in a school program. Instruction helps students prepare to take the GED® Test so they can receive their Maryland High School Diploma. The GED® Test consists of four program areas: Social Studies, Science, Reasoning through Language Arts, and Mathematical Reasoning.The College administers the Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS) test for placement. Based on their scores, students are advised to register for a GED® Test preparation course. Depending on their placement level, this may be a Pre-GED® class.BCCC offers Pre-GED® for ESL classes for students whose native language is not English. Classes are taught by experienced ESL instructors who focus on providing students with the linguistic and cultural information necessary to pass the GED® Test.Pre-GED® for ESL Assessment and Enrollment Process
- Visit BCCC's Harbor Campus (710 E. Lombard Street) for an Intake Assessment (Room 2, 25, or 68).
- If qualified for the placement test, take the referral form to the Adult Basic Education/GED Test Center.
- Take CASAS pre-tests (separate Reading and Math tests).
- Discuss the class schedule with the Test Administrator.
- Register for a class.
