Dental Hygiene, AAS

The Dental Hygiene program is a two-year, 70 credit Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree program. In the final semester, students become eligible for the National Dental Hygiene Board examination and the CDCA-WREB-CITA Clinical Board Examination. Both exams are required for licensure. Working under the supervision of a licensed dentist, dental hygienists:
- Take medical and dental histories
- Take X-rays
- Remove stains and deposits and apply preventive agents to teeth
- Perform non-surgical periodontal therapy
Students in the Dental Hygiene Degree program gain patient care experience at BCCC’s on-site Dental Hygiene Clinic as well as with external health care agencies.
