Maryland Teacher Certification Pathway

Professional Development for Teachers

Baltimore City Community College offers opportunities for individuals who already hold a bachelor’s degree to earn credits towards license renewal and Secondary Content and Fine Arts transcript analysis in alignment with Maryland State Department of Education’s (MSDE) new teacher certification requirements. Since certification requirements differ, based on specialty area and differences in specific student educational histories, all students are strongly urged to seek advising from the program coordinator before registering for courses. For more information on the secondary content and fine arts transcript analysis or license renewal process, prospective students are urged to visit the Maryland State Department of Education website.

Non-degree seeking students are required to submit an unofficial undergraduate transcript to transcripteval@bccc.edu for review when they apply.

Individuals with a bachelor's degree who are seeking initial certification in Elementary Education are encouraged to enroll in a Maryland Approved Educator Preparation Program.
