Afghan Refugee Support Services
BCCC is excited to partner with the Maryland Office for Refugees and Asylees (MORA) to administer the Afghan Refugee Support Services Scholarship. Offered to the Afghan population throughout Baltimore, this scholarship provides a chance for youth and young adults to advance their education and job training.
The scholarship covers all course fees and books associated with:
- Workforce training programs
- Certificate programs
The scholarship is open to:
- Citizens or nationals of Afghanistan who arrived in the U.S. under humanitarian parole (AHP), Special Immigrant Visa (SIV), refugee, or asylee status on or after July 31, 2021.
- Spouse, parent, legal guardian, or child of an AHP who arrived after September 30, 2023.
- Eligible applicants must have held an active immigration status for no more than 60 months at the time of enrollment.
Additional Information:
- The Afghan Scholarship Program is specifically designed to support short-term workforce and vocational training programs. Its primary goal is to lead participants toward employment or industry-recognized certifications.
- The scholarship is not intended to fund longer-term academic pathways like 2- or 4-year degree programs.
- Prospective students pursuing an associate degree will be directed toward other financial aid resources, such as FAFSA and institutional or private scholarships.
