Refugee Youth Project
The Refugee Youth Project (RYP) helps school-aged youth develop the knowledge and skills needed for academic success, leadership, and positive integration into their communities.
Programs include after-school support, summer school, college access, and community arts. All services are FREE for eligible students thanks to funding from the Maryland Office for Refugees and Asylees (MORA).
Program Offerings
After-School Program
- Focus: Homework help, English language skills, enrichment activities, and social skills development.
- Activities Include: English tutoring, STEM, art, dance, social and emotional learning (SEL), mindfulness, sports, and leadership workshops.
- Schedule: 2-3 days per week after school.
- Transportation: Provided for eligible students.
Summer School
- Focus: Academic growth, enrichment, and college/career readiness.
- Subjects: STEM, English, Art, College & Career Readiness, etc.
- Schedule: 4-5 weeks, 4 days per week (June/July)
- Transportation: Provided for eligible students.
Volunteer Opportunities
Our volunteers support our students as tutors, mentors, and workshop leaders. Volunteer time commitments are flexible, from 1 – 2 hours a week to full academic year commitments.

For Partners & Schools
We partner with artists, schools, and community organizations to provide art workshops, social-emotional learning, mental health awareness, and other enrichment activities. Working closely with Baltimore City Public Schools, local colleges, and community partners, we deliver high-quality programs tailored to each site’s needs. Schools and organizations interested in partnering with RYP are encouraged to contact us.
