Services for Older Refugees

The Services for Older Refugees (SOR) program is designed to ensure that eligible refugee clients aged 60 years or older receive focused services not currently provided by other programs. Through funding from the Maryland Office of Refugees and Asylees (MORA), our goal is to ensure older refugees can access vital aging services and live independently with dignity and support.

What the Program Offers

  • Free citizenship classes to support preparation for naturalization
  • Free ESL classes to strengthen language skills and support daily communication
  • Connections to services participants may not currently be receiving
  • Partnerships with state and local agencies to expand access to aging resources

Community Partners

BCCC currently partners with the following community organizations to help older refugees:

  • Maryland Office of Refugees and Asylees (MORA)
  • International Rescue Committee (IRC) – Baltimore
  • Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service (MVLS)
  • Maryland Access Point (MAP)
  • Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland
  • Active Day Adult Day Care
