Are you prepared for our upcoming Middle States visit March 24-26? If you answer NO to any of the questions below, it's time to get moving...


1.     I have attended a Middle States Readiness Workshop.

2.     I have cleaned my office and surrounding workspace.

3.     My bulletin boards are tidy and all information is current.

4.     My instructional spaces are clean, neat, and all furniture is in good repair.

5.     I have read the Middle States Self-Study document and know how
the Standards relate to me and the job I do at the College.

6.     I am ready for the Presidential Walk-Thru Monday, March 10!!!


If you find that you are not ready for the Middle States visit, here are a few things you can do immediately:


1.     Attend a Middle States Readiness Workshop. There are at least two per
week. Look at the schedule posted in the Daily News.

2.     If you need assistance with preparing your physical/instructional spaces, place a "School Dude" request with facilities.  

3.     The Middle States Self-Study is posted in the Daily News; take time to read the document and know how it relates to you and your area.

Middle States Accreditation Visit Later This Month – 17 Days and Counting! Are You Ready?

The Middle States Accreditation team will be here March 24-26. Help prepare for their upcoming visit by making sure your classroom and instructional spaces are neat and clean with furniture in good repair.  


Approved Strategic Plan and Self-Study Available for Review

The Board of Trustees approved updated Strategic Plan can be accessed here. Congratulations to all faculty and staff who contributed to this success! This is a key step in preparing for the upcoming site visit by the team from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education taking place March 24-26.

BCCC Wows the Community at B’More Healthy Expo!

Six BCCC faculty and staff represented the College at this year’s B’More Healthy Expo sponsored by Fox45, Saturday, March 1 at the Baltimore Convention Center. The annual wellness event provides area residents the chance to obtain free health screenings and participate in interactive exhibits, exercises and family-oriented health activities. Present for the event were Dr. James Dyett, Coordinator of the BCCC Physical Therapist Assistant program; Brenda Overton, Associate Professor of Nursing; Dorothy Holley, Associate Dean of the School of Allied Health and Nursing; Ida Sass, Associate Director of Continuing Education; Maria Robinson, Assistant Professor of Nursing; and Scott Olden, Dean of the School of Allied Health and Nursing.



ACBSP Site Visit Later This Month

Some of the Business and Technology Department’s programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council of Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Programs are reaffirmed every ten years.


Members of the ACBSP site team will be on-campus to validate the information submitted in the B&T Self-Study document March 16 – 19.

4A Program Presents:

Black Leaders’ Influence on Black Men in the Classroom

Join the 4A Program today, March 6 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in Room 256 of the Main Building for Past & Present: Black Leaders’ Influence on Black Men in the Classroom. Students will examine the qualities, goals and dreams of black leaders of both the past and present.



EEO Training for Directors, Supervisors & Managers

Get up to speed on various federal and state non-discrimination laws and how they apply to you. Learn your role as a member of the management team on how to properly handle and enforce such laws. Included are the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, and more. Review the information below on upcoming training dates and times! The next training session is today, March 6.

This Month: On-Campus Interview Event with Tribute Home Care

The Office of Career Development and Employment Services will host an on-campus interview event Thursday, March 13 in Room 106 of the Main Building. Tribute Home Care will be on-site to discuss caregiver opportunities with students. Nursing students with CAN, GNA or other caregiver experience are encouraged to apply. Interested applicants can register and submit resumes here by Monday, March 10. Those who meet the qualifications will be notified about scheduling a half-hour interview between the hours of noon and 5 p.m.

Alert: Monthly CPC Statements Due Monday, March 10

Business and Finance Information for CPC Card Holders

Effective now, CPC card holders must submit their CPC statements and documentation on time. Any card holders who submit this information to the Procurement department late more than three times will have their card privileges revoked. Thank you for your cooperation.

BCCC Transfer Fair Coming to Campus Next Month

It’s that time of year again: the BCCC Transfer Fair will be held

Tuesday, March 11 in the Student Atrium. There will be two sessions: the first from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a second session from 5 to 7 p.m.. All faculty and staff are asked to wear gear from their alma mater. Representing your college/university will show our students how important the college experience is. Get Your Supplemental Retirement Questions Answered

Jeannie Henry, the Nationwide retirement specialist, will be on-campus to answer your retirement questions Wednesday, March 26 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Mini Conference Center.

Jeannie will be available to answer any questions relating to the following:


  • Enrolling in the MSRP 457b, 401k, 403(b) Roth 457b or Roth 401k plans
  • Increasing contributions to get on track for retirement savings
  • Consolidating other retirement accounts from prior jobs to the MSRP plans
  • Reading the quarterly statements in detail
  • Completing the form for rolling over annual leave (vacation time) into the plans (for those who are planning to retire)
  • Reviewing investment selections and learning more about asset allocation and diversification

E-Learning Reminder: iPads in Your Classroom
Want to add iPads to your class experience, but unsure of where to start?
Click here to access a guide created by the E-Learning Department for ideas of how to use iPads with your students. Learn more about different apps and how you can use them to make your course interactive and exciting.

The first ten faculty to contact the E-Learning Department will have the opportunity to borrow an iPad for a week to learn more about how it works and how to incorporate it into their students’ learning.

Life Sciences Building Update: Fourth Floor Now Open

The fourth floor labs of the Life Sciences Building are now open. All students should go to the fourth floor for their scheduled labs. Biology 102 lab students should go to Room 409.

Please remember that there is no parking permitted under the LSB during construction. Those who park there will be ticketed and towed immediately!



Tell Your Students: Legendary Academy Info Sessions

Are any of your students looking for a job? Be sure to tell them about the Legendary Academy, a two-day class designed to provide further information about the Horseshoe Casino opening in Baltimore later this year. There will be six sessions held through April. This class will teach attendees more about the Horseshoe Casino brand, its hiring requirements and the current job opportunities available. Those who attend the Legendary Academy will receive special hiring consideration.

Please do not bring any checks to the Cashier’s window. Failure to comply with established procedures may result in an audit finding for the College.
