The Granville T. Woods Scholars Program (GTW/Woods) is designed to attract and prepare high-achieving students primarily from Baltimore City Public Schools. Students who are selected for the program are expected to transfer to a four-year college or university to pursue, at a minimum, a bachelor’s degree. Students are permitted to major in any discipline. The purpose of the GTW Program is to challenge students at a higher level and to create an environment of interdependence which should lead to greater successful outcomes. The model, which will be described later, will also focus on encouraging participants to build personal accountability, personal responsibility and make wise choices regarding their education. The program will also focus on building a global perspective to prepare its students to live, prosper and contribute to a world that is increasingly global in nature.
