Change of Status Applicants
For individuals currently in the U.S. on another non-immigrant visa (e.g., B-1/B-2, H-4, F-2) who wish to change their status to F-1 (student visa) to attend Baltimore City Community College (BCCC).
Advising Recommendations
-
Meet with a qualified immigration attorney for guidance on the Change of Status process, to find out if you are eligible for a change of visa status. They will help you file your I-539 application with USCIS.
-
Consult a BCCC International Student Advisor to confirm your eligibility for admission and documentation requirements.
-
Receive your Form I-20 from BCCC after you are admitted.
-
Work with a qualified immigration attorney to prepare your Change of Status application (Form I-539) and file with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
NOTE: Do not begin studies at BCCC until your change of status has been approved or your SEVIS record has been properly activated under F-1 status, unless your immigration lawyer determines that your current visa type allows you to study in the U.S.
