Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Appeal Process
Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) is the standard students must meet to remain eligible for financial aid (state and federal). If you are not meeting SAP requirements, this page will help you understand what that means and what steps you can take next.
What Are My Options?
Students who do not meet the College's Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards will have the opportunity to appeal their financial aid eligibility. Appeals are submitted online SAP Advisor portal.
How Will I Know if I Can Appeal?
Students who are eligible to appeal will receive an email from Inceptia with instructions and applicable submission deadlines. BCCC has partnered with Inceptia to expedite the financial aid appeal process using the SAP Advisor online portal.
Please note that there is a deadline for submitting a SAP Appeal for the Fall 2026 term. Deadline Date: August 21, 2026.
What Happens Next?
You must do the following before submitting your appeal online using SAP Advisor:
- Log in by using your last name, last four digits of your social security number, and date of birth.
- Select the appeal situation(s) that applies to you.
- Explain your situation in detail and upload supporting documentation.
- Complete an academic plan with your advisor. The academic plan must be uploaded into SAP Advisor.
- E-sign to submit your appeal.
Upon receipt of all required documents, Baltimore City Community College, Financial Aid Office will review your appeal submission. You will be notified via email if there are any questions or if additional documentation is required. The Financial Aid Office will email you a decision of your appeal within 5 business days of your submission.
