Adult Basic Education / Adult High School Program

The BCCC Adult Basic Education (ABE) Department is a leader in helping adults achieve functional literacy and important life skills. BCCC is the largest provider of literacy services in Baltimore City. Classes are offered online and in-person.

BCCC offers a basic computer literacy course that prepares ABE/GED students for the computer-based GED test by identifying and applying test-taking strategies, as well as enhancing digital literacy skills. 

Students must be at least 18 years of age and have not earned a high school diploma to be eligible for our free GED® Test Preparation or Basic Skills (Pre GED®) course. Take the placement assessment test to determine the appropriate class or classes in the program. Testing is available by appointment or walk-in. Please see testing times shown below.

September Registration is Open August 17 - 28, 2026

Returning ABE/GED students are invited to register for Fall 2026 classes at the BCCC Harbor location. Stop by during the registration period to secure your place in an upcoming ABE/GED class.

Placement Testing Hours

Classes are at no cost to you. Some classes meet virtually and others are in-person at 710 E. Lombard Street, room 61 (first first floor of parking garage).
