Program Overview
The Cyber Workforce Accelerator (CWA) is a comprehensive training and certification program designed to quickly prepare individuals for in-demand cybersecurity careers. Delivered in partnership with BCR Cyber, this program is designed to close the talent gap in Maryland's cybersecurity industry by providing hands-on, experiential training at no cost to participants.

- Hands-on Training: The program utilizes the BCR Cyber Series 3000 Cyber Range to simulate real-world cyber threats. This immersive environment allows you to gain practical, job-ready skills in a controlled, realistic setting, detecting, mitigating, and remediating simulated cyberattacks.
- Industry-Recognized Certification: Upon successful completion of the program and passing a rigorous exam, you will earn the SOC Operations Analyst I (SOCOA I) Certification. This credential is widely trusted by employers and aligns with federal standards, significantly enhancing your professional credibility.
- Structured Curriculum: The training is thoughtfully structured into two key components to ensure a holistic learning experience:
- Part I: Asynchronous Training (40 hours): Build a strong foundational knowledge in essential cybersecurity concepts, including enterprise governance, advanced threat analysis, networking fundamentals, Linux command line proficiency, and understanding attacker behavior.
- Part II: Experiential Range Training (8 hours): Engage in collaborative, instructor-led exercises within the Cyber Range, where you will apply your knowledge to live scenarios, detecting, mitigating, and responding to security incidents.
- High-Demand Career Opportunities: The CWA program specifically prepares you for critical entry-level roles within Security Operations Centers (SOCs). Potential career paths include:
- Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst

Eligibility Requirements
To ensure participant success and program integrity, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a U.S. citizen and legally domiciled in Maryland.
- Must be at least 17.5 years old (or 17 turning 18 within six months of program start).
- Must have no criminal convictions.
- Must enroll through a participating Maryland community college (such as Baltimore City Community College).
- Must meet one of the following academic or certification criteria:
- Be currently seeking or have successfully obtained an associate’s degree in IT/cybersecurity.
- Hold two of the following industry-recognized certifications: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, or CompTIA Security+.
