Smoke Free Environment Policy

  • Smoking is prohibited inside all facilities owned, leased, or operated by Baltimore City Community College (BCCC) including (but not limited to) such space as classrooms, halls, laboratories, studios, open and private offices, corridors, dining areas, restrooms, and common areas. This prohibition also includes all vehicles owned, leased, or operated by the College. Smoking is only permissible in the clearly designated exterior areas of the college facilities. The sale of cigarettes, cigars, and pipe tobacco at any facility, location, or vending machine owned, leased, or operated by BCCC is strictly prohibited.

  • BCCC Becomes 100 Percent Tobacco-Free on Jan. 2, 2020

At Baltimore City Community College (BCCC), we are committed to providing a healthy environment for all who study, work and visit here. That’s why the College is excited to announce that effective Jan. 2, 2020, BCCC will join over 2,000 colleges and universities throughout the nation – and most in Maryland – in becoming a 100 percent tobacco-free campus.

BCCC’s “tobacco-free policy” prohibits the use of all smoking and tobacco products (and smoking and tobacco substitutes) at all BCCC locations, current and future. The tobacco-free policy applies to all faculty, staff, administrators, students, contractors, vendors and visitors to any BCCC current or future location.

Included in the ban are all forms of tobacco products, substitutes and delivery forms: cigarettes, chewing tobacco, cigars, cigarillos, snuff, vaping, e-cigarettes, e-cigars, e-pipes, hookah and vape pens.

In September, the College’s Board of Trustees passed a comprehensive policy prohibiting the use of all tobacco and tobacco substitute products on all BCCC locations, which is posted here
