Disability Support Services Center (DSSC)
Baltimore City Community College (BCCC) seeks to ensure that people with disabilities are given full access to and participation in all aspects of college life by removal of both physical and attitudinal barriers. Disability Support Services Center (DSSC) is the designated office that maintains disability related documents, determines eligibility for reasonable accommodations, and develops plans for the provision of such accommodations at BCCC. The Disability Support Services Center provides students and faculty with assistance and information for meeting the requirements of the law and integrating students with disabilities into Baltimore City Community College. The center serves as an advocate for students with disabilities, ensuring that they have physical and programmatic access to all college programs that will affect their acclimation into the campus community.

Services Offered by DSSC
Reasonable Accommodations: Auxiliary aids and services, which are intended to assist college students with disabilities, achieve their full potential; they guarantee equal opportunity to academic success.
Workshops: DSSC recognizes that there are some general areas in which there is a need for assistance to support classroom performance. Throughout each semester DSSC will offer workshops such as study strategies, test-taking skills, time management, stress management.
How to Refer a Student
Students have the right to choose if and when to reveal their disability. If they do not reveal, then instructors should respect their privacy and not ask them directly. Instructors can say something like, “I see you are really struggling in my class, is there something I can do to help?” Then if the student says, “I am really having trouble reading, I just can’t seem to get the information,” the instructor can refer the student to a number of support services and include Disability Support Services in that list of places.
