Good Morning BCCC Community!
It is with great pleasure and pride that I begin my tenure today as the 14th president of Baltimore City Community College. You should know that I have spent the last week getting settled into my new home in Baltimore City and the past few months getting more acquainted with the College through campus visits and candid conversations with students and leaders across divisions. Now, I look forward to being at BCCC full time and getting to know each of you and learning more about the BCCC culture.
This is an exciting time for the College. As you probably remember, in 2017 the Maryland General Assembly mandated that BCCC undergo a realignment process to reexamine our priorities and operations. Today, the College is perfectly poised to tackle the challenges before us. As we chart a new course together, the realignment plan will help guide our priorities and shape our focus.
I know BCCC still has work to do. I am confident that the culmination of my experience and leadership in higher education will be an asset as I work with faculty, staff and students. Thoughtful, informed, and transparent change and planning will make BCCC stronger. Our goals for the future will be ambitious and bold; I am excited for this opportunity to lead BCCC as we prepare for the next evolution of the College.
Student success is our first priority. Our students are and will always be at the heart of what we promote and do. We exist to provide the best education and training for our students, enabling them to transfer to four-year institutions and/or enter into a career of choice. The ultimate measure of our success rests with the achievements of our students and the rich partnerships that we nurture in the diverse communities we serve. I know you share in my optimism to grow and work together to continue to realize the College’s full potential.
Together we will make a real difference and take BCCC “above and beyond.”
