    Program Description 

    ACBSP Accredited The Computer Information Systems Degree Program at BCCC emphasizes business computer program design and development. Practical experience is gained in networking, databases, and programming applications utilizing various system environments such as UNIX, Microsoft Windows, and other state-of-the-art multi-user/ microcomputer-based operating systems. CIS-approved electives offer students the flexibility to acquire additional training within an area of personal interest. Many of the program’s graduates pursue advanced studies at four-year colleges and universities while others move directly into employment with banks, financial companies, government, and other businesses.

    The Computer Information Systems Program is accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).

Job Description

  • A graduate form the BCCC Computer Information System can become:

    • Computer Programmer –a person who writes instructions in a computer language to solve problems
    • Systems Analyst –a person who designs computer systems based on his/her technical knowledge
    • Technical Writer – a person who uses his/her technical knowledge to produce technical manuals
    • Web Designer/Web Master – a person who uses technical knowledge to design web sites
    • Database Administrator –a person who is responsible for the overall administration of a database for a company or organization
    • Database Programmer – a person who writes specific requests for a database
    • Computer Support Specialists - provide help and advice to people and organizations using computer software or equipment.
    • Computer Network Architects- design and build data communication networks, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and intranets.

    Network and Computer Systems Administrators - are responsible for the day-to-day operation of these networks.

    Information Security Analysts- plan and carry out security measures to protect an organization's computer networks and systems.

    Computer and Information Research Scientists - invent and design new approaches to computing technology and find innovative uses for existing technology.
