The UM BIOPARK - Bringing people and jobs together
-
The UM BioPark is located in downtown Baltimore at one of the nation's largest academic research centers. The center conducts $500 million in biomedical research annually and is actively engaged in clinical trials, translational research drug development and technology commercialization with more than 300 bioscience and pharmaceutical companies around the world.
Ultimately, ten buildings are planned for the 10-acre park. Building One, which is fully occupied, opened in 2006. Building Two, with southwestern views of the city's Inner Harbor, is 90% full.
Established and start-up companies alike are attracted to the UM biomedical research park. Maryland has a wide array of incentives, including workforce training grants, loans, and income and real property tax credits in return for Empowerment Zone job creation and investments.
BioPark companies have a workforce pipeline through the Life Sciences Institute (LSI). Company feedback is overwhelmingly positive.
