Program DescriptionStudents develop science laboratory technical skills in preparation for employment under the supervision of professional scientists in a variety of laboratory settings. The program can also serve as the first two years of preparation for a four-year school with a major in physical or biological sciences.
The second year prepares students for employment in scientific labs including biological and chemical labs in biotech companies or universities. On the job experience is in-built in the program via internships. The Biotechnology Program includes a state-of-the-art technical research experience provided by local biotechnology companies and research facilities/ labs at local universities including University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), Towson University and Johns Hopkins University.
The mission of the Biotechnology program at Baltimore City Community College provides state of the art biotechnology education and training to the citizens of Baltimore and the State of Maryland, as well as, to provide information.
