Commencement 2023

  • Mark your calendar. Commencement 2023 will take place on May 13, 2023 at 10:00 am at:

Commencement Participation, Graduation Box, Invitations and Tickets

  • Students who completed the 2023 Commencement Graduate Participation form will be mailed a Graduation Box on or about April 23, 2023.
     
    Commencement Participation Form
     
    The box will contain the following items:
    • Commencement regalia
    • Six Commencement invitations
    • Six Commencement tickets. Guests must present a ticket for entry to The Lyric.

    Faculty and staff who are volunteering at The Lyric are not required to have a ticket for entry to the Commencement Ceremony.

Graduates, Graduate Guests, Platform & Special Guests, and Faculty

  • Graduates

    • Graduates should arrive by 8:00 am and enter The Lyric from the Maryland Avenue entrance (follow directional signage).
    • Please see below for parking information.
    • Masks are optional.

    Graduate Guests

    • All guests must present a ticket to enter The Lyric.
    • Guests must enter The Lyric main entrance on West Mount Royal Avenue beginning at 9:00 am and be seated by 9:30 am.
    • Metal detectors will be present at entrances.
    • No admittance will be permitted during Processional.
    • Please see below for parking information.
    • Photos may not be taken from the aisles during the ceremony.
    • Masks are optional.

    Platform & Special Guests (by invitation only)

    • Guests must enter The Lyric Box Office entrance on West Mount Royal Avenue.
    • Look for directional signage marked VIP Entrance.
    • Please see below for parking information.
    • Masks are optional.

    Faculty

    • Faculty must enter the Lyric Box Office entrance on West Mount Royal Avenue.
    • Look for directional signage marked Faculty Entrance.
    • Please see below for parking information.
    • Masks are optional.

     

Parking

  • The Lyric’s official garage is Fitzgerald Garage on Oliver Street (between Mt. Royal Avenue and Maryland Avenue at 80 West Oliver Street, Baltimore, MD 21201). The garage is a block north of The Lyric and is privately owned. Additional parking garages are located nearby. Parking costs are the responsibility of students and guests.

General Information

    • Students should refrain from wearing high-heeled shoes due to the length of time you may be on your feet during the ceremony.
    • Students should not bring large bags or purses to The Lyric as there is no secure storage in the student robing area.  
    • The Lyric concession stands will not be open during the Commencement Ceremony.
    • Masks are optional at The Lyric.
    • Guests will not be admitted to the auditorium during the procession.
    • The backstage assembly area is for graduates only.
    • Remain seated & keep the aisles clear during the procession and ceremony.
    • Photos may not be taken from the aisles during the ceremony.
    • Prohibited items include:

      • Smoking or vaping on the premises
      • Food, alcohol, or controlled substances
      • Animals, with the exception of service animals
      • Balloons
      • Noisemakers, speakers, or amplification devices
      • Weapons
