BCCC to Host Free Annual Community Resource Fair Oct. 16

(October 9, 2019) – Baltimore City Community College will host its fourth annual Community Resource Fair Wednesday, Oct. 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Student Atrium on the Liberty campus, 2901 Liberty Heights Ave. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

Presented by Student Support and Wellness Services and BCCC strategic partner Year Up Baltimore, the resource fair will bring together representatives from over two dozen community agencies and student support services. Attendees can learn about important resources available on campus and throughout the community, such as child care, health care, legal aid, housing assistance, emergency shelters, social services, treatment programs, foster youth services and many more.

Several information sessions and demonstrations are scheduled throughout the fair, including free HIV and Hepatitis C testing, opioid overdose prevention training, and a Mentoring Circle for individuals who grew up with foster parents or with adults other than parents. Advanced students in BCCC’s Dental Hygiene program will also be on hand from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to demonstrate proper dental care and what to do for various dental problems.

SSWS works to position BCCC students for success by providing free, confidential counseling services, wellness events and connecting them to outside resources. As a strategic partner of the college, Year Up provides an intensive one-year training program that equips young adults with a combination of hands-on skills development, coursework eligible for college credit, and internships at top companies.
