Following a nationwide search, Baltimore City Community College has named Dr. Darryl Pope as the new Director of Athletics. Dr. Pope has more than 20 years’ experience in his field and has directed both NCAA Division I and Division II colleges. Most recently, Dr. Pope served as the Director of Athletics at Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, Georgia. Prior to that, he served as the director of athletics at Lincoln University in Oxford, Pennsylvania. He also served as Director of Athletics & Physical Activity at College of Lake County, in Grayslake, Illinois. At Kennesaw State University in Georgia, he held both the position of Associate Athletic Director for Internal Affairs and Associate Athletic Director for Compliance. He served as Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance at both California State University and Temple University.
Dr. Pope earned his Ph.D. in Sports Management & Leisure Studies from Temple University, a Masters in Science in Sports Administration in Minor Business Administration at Grambling State University in Grambling, Louisiana, and a Bachelor of Science in Communication Management at Howard University.
