Program Learning Outcomes

    • Identify deviations from normal health in clients of all age groups in providing nursing care.

    • Apply principles from the biological and behavioral sciences to make client care decisions under the prescribed standards of practice.

    • Provide safe, effective nursing care to a multicultural client population within the scope of practice for practical nursing.

    • Contribute to the nursing process in meeting clients’ needs and establishing priority of care.

    • Perform basic therapeutic and preventive nursing measures by following the prescribed plan of care while functioning under the direction of a registered nurse.

    • Collaborate with health team members in instructing clients on health maintenance in varied health care settings.

    • Communicate effectively with clients, their significant others, and the health team to establish effective interpersonal relationships.

    • Provide direction to unlicensed health care personnel while maintaining ethical and legal standards.

    • Participate in activities that promote continued educational and professional growth and development.
