The Baltimore City Community College (BCCC) the Robotics/Mechtronics Technology Program takes students into the rapidly expanding and cutting-edge industry of automated manufacturing. The program offers extensive training in electronics, computer and mechanical controls, pneumatics, data acquisition and hydraulics related to industrial robots. The program leads to the associate of applied science degree in robotics technology. Students can opt for transfer to four-year bachelor’s degree programs

Robotics technicians work with industrial and manufacturing specialists in the rapidly expanding and dynamic industry of automated manufacturing. They program, troubleshoot and repair electronic and computer-controlled mechanical systems, such as robotic assembly machines.

Always check with an advisor to determine what courses to take. All BCCC students must meet the College’s computer literacy requirement in order to receive a degree or certificate. All students are required to complete the PRE 100 course within the first six credits. PRE 100 is an academic achievement preparation course earning one credit. The following is a list of courses.

Students will learn to:

• Operate/program/repair industrial robots.
• Describe current status of robotics technology and new development.
• Operate CNC machine to produce a part with the process of designing, AutoCAD, format conversion, design input, CNC tool/path configuration, CNC simulation and CNC operation.
• Use various sensors to develop an automation cell.
• Use Ohm’s Law and Kirchhoff’s Rule to analyze DC/AC circuits.
• Solve problems related to semiconductors, digital systems and PLCs.
• Use CAD software to produce 2D and 3D designs.
• Use college level mathematics knowledge to solve technology problems.
• Communicate with peers/supervisors effectively.

• Associate of Applied Science in Robotics Technology

Graduates of the Robotics Technology Program can transfer to Morgan State University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering.
